Basin

  • Southern Song dynasty, 12-13th century

Pale whitish blue glaze and thin sophisticated footring are distinctive characteristic of this basin. Once in Japan, this type of wares were distinguished from Longquan wares and called Xiuneisi, one of the Southern Song imperial kilns.

Formerly owned by Yasunari Kawabata, a Nobel literature prize winner.
