  • Yue ware H 7.0cm MD 12.0cm BD 6.5cm
No.21048

Bowl covered with celadon glaze all over to the bottom, decorated with carved double-lotus petal pattern on the body and a seven-petaled lotus pattern on the inside. Lotus petal decorations seen in this work are often seen on celadon excavated from Southern Dynasty tombs. In addition to bowls, they decorate the shoulders of jars and bottles, and the inside of dishes, showing that lotus petal decoration was popular in the Southern Dynasty.
This kind of works have been excavated from tombs dating from the latter half of the 5th century in Fujian, Jiangsu, and Jiangxi provinces, and this work is probably one of such celadon from the Song and Qi dynasties of the Southern Dynasty.
