Celadon Dish with Rough Carved Pattern

Heavy and thick made dish with rough carved pattern covered with bluish green celadon glaze. The bottom is especially thick and the unglazed base shows whitish clay. This type of dish and bowl can be seen in the shards collected at Hangzhou by Tsuneo Yonaiyama who was a Hangzhou Consul at 1930’s (see “Yonaiyama Shards Ⅲ”). Similar iatems have been found in Hakata ruin site.
