White Porcelain Jar with Four Lugs

  • H 28.5cm MD 9.1cm BD 8.8cm
  • Sui - Early Tang, 7th century
No.21077

Jar with four lugs on the shoulder and glazed both inside and outside. The glaze retains the glaze tone of celadon. While this type of jar appeared at the beginning of 7th century and continued to be made until 8th century, it may be attributed to earlier than 8th century because of the similarity in characteristic base, clay and glaze tone to the works of late 6th to early 7th century.
